"Over a century in the Goodwin family. One hundred and six acres. A horseshoe bend on the James."
Belle Meade Farm has been in the Goodwin family for over a hundred years. A working Virginia Century Farm — one of only 7 in Buckingham County — with rolling pastures, cattle, a stocked fishing pond, river access, and the warm hospitality of a central Virginia agritourism destination that truly welcomes guests.
Belle Meade sits on land historically part of the Snowden Estate, with ties to Virginia's early colonial history and the Jeffersons of Albemarle County. The Smithsonian has conducted archaeological work at the Snowden site on the property.
Virginia is for Lovers — and Belle Meade is that Virginia. A romantic retreat for couples, a honeymoon destination, a home base for families, and a peaceful escape for anyone who needs to slow down. One mile south of historic Scottsville. Thirty minutes south of Charlottesville, Monticello, and UVA. Minutes from Mount Ida Reserve, 40+ wineries, and craft breweries — your base camp for Virginia wine country, the Blue Ridge Mountains, James River adventures, and agritourism experiences unlike anything else in central Virginia.
Two private suites — each with its own entrance, kitchen, living room, dining area, and patio. Book together for the complete Belle Meade experience.
Our original second-floor suite, perched above the farm with sweeping views of the James River. Private entrance and a dedicated patio with string lights and a fire pit.
A beautifully renovated ground-floor suite with its own private entrance and dedicated patio.
We have partnered with the James River Batteau Company to host weddings, corporate retreats, farm-to-table dinners, and private celebrations at our river entrance on Belle Meade Farm. Sailcloth tent, tobacco barrels, string lights at dusk, acoustic music, and the James River as your backdrop — whether you're planning a James River wedding near Charlottesville or a riverside dinner at the water's edge.
The James River Batteau Company brings the hospitality, the storytelling, and the magic. Together, it's one of the most unique event settings in central Virginia.
